Oddity Mallet Quartet
Older scores bought on JWPepper have two Low Ab’s in the Marimba 2 part that should be played as low Bb’s instead.
About the Piece:
Oddity is a mallet quartet with an optional bass drum part. This piece was written for my students at the Eastman Community Music School. All mallet parts only require two mallets allowing the players to work on fast and repetitive mallet passages.
Oddity is an episodic work representing the strange and peculiar moments we encounter in life. Mallet choice is left to the ensemble, but should aim for clear rhythmic articulation with a blended sound between all instruments.
Instrumentation:
Two 4.3 Marimbas
(Marimba 2 has two low Ab’s which can be changed to a Bb for 4.3 marimba. Either note works!)
Vibraphone
Glockenspiel
Bass Drum (optional)
